That's the the question to ask; the question is "why should COM4" be
excluded?

the generic kernels should support as much hardware as possible, and
good reasons should be given if some of that support is to be
removed... (e.g. Jon Blow said that the XXX enet board's config didn't
work with his system, so we removed it.  NO -- better justification
must be given...)


I think, given the reasons listed, either the com4 driver should be
removed, the com driver's probe should be changed, or the video
display driver's attach/display routines should be improved.
I dunno which, and it's not my choice to make -- charles 'owns'
the i386 tree, more or less, and i *don't* want to take it myself!

Therefore it's his call.
