I have a 1542C in my box...  I can't really remove it since that runs my only
hard drives...

I do notice my machine gets vm faults *even with the external cache off* from
time to time under heavy paging or possibly heavy disk use applications,
like ``make install'' in /usr/src.

Applications get signal 11's all the damn time and the kernel gets vm_faults
a lot with the external cache on.  :(
