lamp crashed last night, during the update; i've made a new set
of tar-balls by hand, etc. etc. etc.

i've also replaced the root disk on sun-lamp with the previous one,
etc., so lamp should be happier...

also, in order to keep your lives interesting, i've recently made
a bunch of changes which will probably cause no end of 'fun'.
anyway: two libc major number bumps (don't ask... 8-), and
now off_t's are 64 bits wide, and uid_t and gid_t's are now
32 bits wide. lots of associated changes. fully backward compatible,
though. be SURE you install new include files before you do
anything like compiling and installing new binaries, or *very* bad
things may happen to you, including your file systems being eaten,
if you do the wrong things...
