I have been told that the problem is related to the new interupt system
in -current. This certainly rings true for me, as it locks up about 50%
of the time when I try to start my PPP link. (It used to hang, now I get
the timeout and reset problems and can't continue).

Once the PPP link is up I don't tend to get any problems (other than the
odd failure when booting up in the first place!).
