It's also worth pointing out that (a) one doesn't *need* to keep absolutely
current, so you can keep suid shell scripts until they get rewritten (unless
you've already updated), and (b) perl has a scheme for implementing suid
perl scripts even in the absence of secure direct kernel support (and how
can one survive UNIX without perl ?  :-).
