I thought that the Linux sound driver, which includes support for the GUS,
PAS-16, and SB/SBPro, was being ported to the "magnum" kernel. Have these
  plans been changed? Anyone?

Whats been installed is the EXISTING bsd unix audio driver. if there
is going to be a family of drivers by all means lets see it done sanely
to permit runtime selection (lkm?) but this code has existed for BSD
unix for at least 2 years and has been ported to BSDi since early last
year. There is already deployed code out there which works with it, not
the least of which is the multicast, and any applications written to use
SunOS style /dev/audio.

It ain't new to BSD. Please don't just pull it out.
