current-users: MACHINE_NONCONTIG and 16Mb isa machines

Hi,

will a 16Mb isa machine with an adaptec 1542C SCSI controller now
work with option MACHINE_NONCONTIG ? 

I heard about possible proplems with this setup on the list and I'm
experimenting effective problems with sources from 4/12 if I set this
option.

Can I now upgrade to latest source without too much difficulties ?
