Subject: tar causes core dump? (NFS problem?)

Ok, I thought it was a fluke...

On the i386/25 at work, where /usr is NFS mounted, I used to get a panic
while ``make install''ing in /usr/src/include -- the tar command would
seem to be the cause.

I made a fresh kernel and the problem went away.

Now at home, I'm trying to untar the Utah Raster Toolkit in /home, which
is nfs mounted from my roomate's box. I get a panic: multiple frees, just
as I used to on the i386/25.

I just untarred it on a local drive without a problem, and cp -r'd the stuff
into my home directory. This worked.

Anyone else seen this, or have a suggestion?
