as noted in some mail that i just asked Mark Weaver to fwd to current-users,
the 'obj' problem was different than either of us originally thought;
don't apply his patches...

as for the top-level Makefile on lamp:
i just fixed the permissions on it, but it hasn't changed in ages,
in any *serious* way, anyway...
