My IDE controller is built into the motherboard and Gateway 2000
claims it's all manner of sexy, especially with the particularly fast
WD drive I have (standard in the Gateway 2000 machine).

My SCSI controller is a 1542 talking on the slow ISA bus, and the disk
is an old SCSI-1 1.2GB disk where most user files live.

So it seemed likely that the IDE disk would be faster. (Clearly I
just need to get more RAM, which is *definitely* faster ;-) -- until
my 1542 breaks from too much RAM, of course.)
