It is a mistake to think that a writable ISOFS is a sufficient way to
make CD-ROM images. Professional premastering systems are very careful
to lay out files to give good performance. It is also the case that
there isn't really any place in the ISO 9660 format to store an
allocation map.

A set of free premastering tools would be useful, but a writable ISOFS
is not the way to do it.
