When I was lucky enough to get a SUP connection, SUP printed the following
messages:

SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n.err
SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n1.d
SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n1.r
SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n1.t
SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n2.d
SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n2.r
SUP: File server unable to transfer file src/bin/ed/test/\n2.t
....
(all the other files were updated normally)
SUP: Upgrade of src completed with errors at Nov 11 02:36:40 1993
SUP: Upgrade time will not be updated

Probably, something goes wrong with file permissions, in the src 
SUP source tree.
