Hi,
I have just recently bought a tape backup unit for my A3000 running
NetBSD1.1 It is a WangTek 5525ES SCSI-1 drive.
The system identifies the drive on startup as follows:
atze /netbsd: ahsc0 targ 0 lun 0: <WANGTEK, 5525ES SCSI REV1, 6F6> SCSI1 1
/sequential removable
atze /netbsd: st0 at scsibus0: density code 0x0, 1024-byte blocks,
write-enabled
The drive seems to work fine using tar. ie. I can write to the tape
and restore the file again from it.
I can not put more than one file onto the tape, because the tape never
returns from the "mt -f /dev/nrst0 fsf 1" command, instead it just
forwards to the end of the first file and then sits there with the
light on. An attempt to write to the tape at this point results in the
following:
root@atze(40)$ tar -cvpf /dev/nrst0 /local/local/amiga
tar: Removing leading / from absolute path names in the archive
local/local/amiga/
local/local/amiga/ABackup510.lha
tar: Cannot write to /dev/nrst0: Invalid argument

Also the drive doesn't seem to be know to the mt command because "mt
-f /dev/rst0 status" returns:
7: unknown tape drive type
Is there anything I can do to get the tape to work the way it ought
to? Please let me know how to fix this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Arthur.
