I'm having a rather odd problem with ppp on NetBSD 1.0.

If I boot my machine and try to run pppd, it doesn't make the connection.

However, if I run slattach and then kill it (it doesn't make any sort of
connection, there's a router running ppp on the other end of the
serial line) and then run ppp, everything connects just fine and I
can go about my business.

Any idea on what's doing this?
