I have been getting the following messages while compiling locore.s:

../../amiga/locore.s:121: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:686: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:724: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:843: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:856: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:865: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:1467: unterminated character constant
../../amiga/locore.s:1491: unterminated character constant

It appears that 'as' whines about every source line with a single ' char
on it (even though the char is in the comment part of the line).  as
version is GNU assembler version 1.92.3, NetBSD $Revision: 1.3 $

I removed the ''s and try to recompile soon.  I wonder if as just skipped
the source lines last time... :-I
