Subject: can't get A3000/Spectrum X running

problem:
# startx >&/tmp/startx.log

Previously, /dev/grf3 didn't exist so I used "mknod /dev/grf3 c 10 3; chmod
666 /dev/grf3" to create it. I suspect the kernel is bad because I had
no problems using Xamiga24 (or Xmono) in mono mode with /dev/grf0.
cat /dev/grf0 did not report an error, but cat /dev/grf[1-3] reported:
device not configured. I tried using grfconfig but it reported:
can't open grf.

any hints?

thanks,
