Basically I did the same about two months later. But when I wanted
to have a look at the sparc-port to see how an ite_bell() compliant
function was implemented there (*), I ran out of time (new employer).

I wrote my code with some regard of this issue, so it shouldn't be too
complicated to accomplish this. I think next weekend I might get some
time to resume my work on the driver.


(*) I did not want just my driver to be working but also the rest
    of the system.
