Hi Folks,

I had an interesting discussion with the guys over in the port-pmax
mailing list about getting netbsd boot strapped on a VAXstations. They
suggest I ask here. (I was a little confused on the difference between
a VAXstation 3100 and DECstation 3100. ). Anyway, I have several
VAXstations (5-3100s, 2-3200s, and a 3540) which are currently getting
very little use. They currently run VMS in a Vax-cluster. Since our campus
has migrated to unix, I would like to migrate these machines over to BSD.

What I'm in need of is a boot/mini-root and a lot of advise. The VMS
machines are on the net, so I'm thinking I could use it to write out a
boottable formatted tape, or floppy of the image dump. Would anyone care
to to make that available (if the port is that far along.)

My other option is to use an HP-ux machine to cross-compile a small kernel,
but going from there, I'm lost. How do you get it into a bootable format?

I would deeply appreciate any advice you can give, or pointers to an ftp
site which may have binary available.

Thanks,
