Ok... next question, then...

If the external port doesn't work, how difficult would it be to port Sun's 
sound drivers from SunOS 4.1.X, assuming I could get a copy of the source? 
Would Sun's sound drivers allow the external output to work?

I understand that 8000 hz is the only supported rate, but it would be nice 
to be able to hook a decent set of speakers up to this thing, so I can 
listen to my mp3's on my Sparc.... (ok, it's a vanity thing... I just wanna 
be geek enough to be able to say "I can do that on a machine that's 8 years 
old!" ::grin::)
