Yes .. I did that ((cd /mnt/dev ; ./MAKEDEV all) under sunos)

Have even tried it with out that step :(

I have tried the 'netbsd' kernels from snaps in apr,mar and dec.
Still no joy.

Hmm .. I don't think I am getting that far.
