That makes all the difference in the world.
The bootloader doesn't understand FFSv2 so far so the partition you 
load the kernel from needs to be FFSv1.
The code to support FFSv2 is supposedly there, someone with the right 
kind of knowledge just needs to make ofwboot.xcf aware of it.
