I've asked about kernel builds from time to time and received some
helpful advice.  I am going to be doing some kernel building and was
wondering if there is a step by step guide out on somebody's web
page. I'm both worried and interested in what features can be left out
and supporting non-standard hardware.

I would prefer absolute minimal downtime as my macppc machine is a
mailserver for a few people. So if I had a checklist of the procedure
it could go faster. If not I'll just write my own.
