HTML...ugh!  Please avoid using html in your mail messages.  It makes it
extremely hard to read for the 90+% of people who don't use Netscape to
read their mail.  That said....

Why are you using a MADHATTER kernel?  Those kernels were originally
compiled to fix a problem with Quadra onboard video.  Although I don't
know why they wouldn't work with a IIci, this may be the problem.  I'd try
a recent generic kernel (if you have -current sources).  If you are using
the 1.2.1 distribution, then I'd use the 1.2.1 distribution kernel.

Should this not solve the problem, please take a look at the FAQ.  In the
General Q&A section there is a long list of helpful tips towards getting a
Mac to boot NetBSD.  The IIci should work pretty reliably with NetBSD as
well.
