It depends on what you mean by "stable code base".

If you want the latest stable release then use
"netbsd-1-6-PATCH001-RELEASE" (or "netbsd-1-6-PATCH001" -- I'm not 100%
sure why there are two apparently identical tags).

However it would probably be a bit easier on everyone if you just used
the src.tgz archive that comes with the release distribution rather than
CVS to access the 1.6.1 release sources:

	ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.6.1/source/sets/

If on the other hand you want to use CVS to track the stable branch then
use the latter, i.e. the branch tag "netbsd-1-6".
