I've been plagued by the galeon hang too. So much that I've gotten
used to using mozilla-gtk (from pkgsrc).

Certain sites seem to hang much more than others.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out if there is any
commonality between all the sites that have problems. Graphics
oriented sites by themselves don't seem to be a problem. I can find
sites with plenty of pictures that never hang.

It only seems to happen on sites where the graphics come from
*different* servers. In addition, those sites statistically all seem
to have one of two ads (dynamically served, yetch) that may well be
pointing to sites I've told galeon to never load pictures from
(eg. doubleclick, and a couple of dozen random servers with the word
"ad" as a free-standing word in their hostnames etc.).

I wish I knew how to check if galeon was getting into some deadlock
when it tied up resources in preparation for loading a picture with a
new tcp connection, but then never loaded it, but never freed the
connection data.
