I receiv a similar error while trying to compile using bmake for i386. 

I do $REAL_MAKE which is set to the latest version of bmake, and it fails
with the following error:

bmake: don't know how to make /b/priyam/tmp/obj-i386/lib/libutil/libutil.a.
Stop

Could someone point out a way to work around this?
