I'm going to install FreeBSD tonight and see if they have the same
issue. I've also got Mandrake sat around here somewhere so I may try
that over the weekend.

I could shove on a soundblaster AWE32 but I'm almost out of slots. I've
already switched to using an external modem and given up hope of ever
getting the FlexPort to work, so that's out too.
