Works for me with: 5.1_RC3 NetBSD 5.1_RC3 (GENERIC) #20: Sun Jun 27 20:44:26 EDT 2010 and in-tree Xorg (/usr/X11R7). Are you using Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch?
