hi guys,

i recently got new acer 1931m 19" lcd panel. it was detected ok by X 
-configure and suggested the dpms option. however, every request to 
change the state (as xset dpms force off, for example) ends with

X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
   Major opcode of failed request:  137 (DPMS)
   Minor opcode of failed request:  6 (DPMSForceLevel)
   Serial number of failed request:  10
   Current serial number in output stream:  12

the same error is reported for all of off/suspend/standby flags. what is 
wrong here?

my system and x versions are

XFree86 Version 4.2.1 / X Window System
1.6ZH on i386

and hardware is (lcd connected through dvi)
