What xsets are you using?

	+ built yourself under -current?
	+ sets from a specific release?
	+ sets from releng.netbsd.org?

X -> XFree86 - yes for i386

Exactly what command was used to start the server - via xdm or startx
or just X?

Could you provide the error message unmodified.
