Yes, that's what I tried to say ;-)

There are two possible ways to do it, I guess:

 - make xdm call ttyaction() or
 - install the Give/TakeConsole hacks (see 
   xsrc/xfree/xc/programs/xdm/config/GiveConsole) and make them work
