BTW: if you really thing that it is necessary to add every single
     window manager to the list add something like an expert menu
     which lists them all.

But it *should* definitely be in "xdm" because otherwise users will
have to select the session type manually on each logon. And if they
disable the menu (e.g. by making the setting permanent) they will e.g.
lose the ability to start a failsafe session if it is necesary.

Selecting the session type in the login manager works very well
for many other Unix vendors.
