There is a good analyzis of the problem being in libm387 and a proposed
fix by Stephen Ma (see PR 15404 for details). We are waiting for review
from Frank.

This means:

 - it will likely be fixed soon
 - the problems are i386 specific

So this should not be a showstopper any more.
