Personally, I am absolutely happy with bmake as a language.
So, I don't need yet another incompatible make clone in base.

My experience says that redesign of the software is possible provided that
regression tests cover  the whole functionality.
If bmake's code is so crappy, it's good time to start A LOT OF regression tests
using ATF and then reimplement ugliest parts of it.
