I'm connecting to a NetBSD server from various machines and run emacs
in a screen there. Everything worked fine until recently, when I
switched from mlterm to xterm (because mlterm didn't compute the width
of decomposed Umlauts correctly).
Since then, I have the problem that backspace either works on the
machine with the xterm or the other ones from which I'm connecting.
If I start the screen+emacs from the xterm machine, backspace works as
delete (i.e. deletes the character under the cursor instead of the one
to the left of the cursor) on the others, and the other way round.
Is there a solution to make this work consistently again?
