I think the majority of people do not care, some would like, would
would like not, and a smaller group would really like and another
smaller group is absolutely opposed. I suspect that most that would
like have given up trying to push water uphill to make a change, so
the noises on the list are not necessarily indicative.
Hence my comment - if enough people care to push for it, then take it
to core or have a developer poll, anything else is undoubtably wasting
more of everyone's time (I apologise for doing this again in this
message, but will try to leave it at this).
