Hi -
some people (in particular "octave" authors) seem to assume
that strptime(3) fills in weekday etc even if it was not given
in the input and format strings.
The susv3 manpage doesn't state such a requirement. (There
are appearently no reserved values for "struct tm" meaning
"not specified" either.)
Does anybody know of an applicable standard requiring the
calendar calculations, or are the octave programmers to
be accused of unportable code?
