I've thought about something similar a few times, when trying to
figure out what might have changed between kernels - usually some time
after the fact. How about keeping the contents of /var/run/dmesg.boot
under /var/backup like all the other files we keep history of?

It wouldn't catch multiple boots in the same day, but maybe that's
less relevant for historical reference, or maybe a combination of the
two methods is best.
