I've never really heard of, or used, either program.  I've always just
written a bit of awk to do the job.  :-)

Looking at the manual page for jot(1) now I can't imagine what new,
unique, feature it brings.  It just seems to be yet another rather
convoluted way to do things that could already be done easily with
existing more general tools like awk.
