gcal uses "." as month argument; from the info page:

`.' Previous, actual and next month of the current year, e.g.:
          gcal .

`..' Actual quarter of the current year, e.g.:
          gcal ..

`.. YYYY' Actual quarter of selected year, e.g.:

`.+' Actual and next two months of the current year, e.g.:

`.-' Actual and previous two months of the current year, e.g.:
