Subject: Defaults number of ptys incorrect?

I just noticed myself running out of ptys on a 1.5_ALPHA box (sparc, FWIW)
and then noticed that despite the fact that GENERIC kernels seem to support
32 ptys, only 16 come out of the box. It's easy to run out of 16.

Does this look appropriate?
