while we're hacking on this, something akin to the sunos fbtab or
solaris logindevperm (i.e., "these other devices (floppy, cd, audio,
frame buffer, mouse, ...) also temporarily belong to whoever's
currently using using this login "channel") would also be useful in
many environments.
