the only reason i can see against updating is that we once had plans to
use the AT&T awk and ditching gawk.  that also invalidates the argument
to install a `gawk' link.


i've been using it for lots of things under NetBSD for a few years.
but there are some minor issues with using AT&T awk, such as scripts
in the tree that rely on gawk features.


i like the idea of a non GPL awk but other than that i've lost any
motivation to see anything change.  :)
