If you're going to change names, it would be nice if we had something
like:

/var/run/dhcpd.pid
/var/run/lpd.pid
/var/run/lpd.socket
/var/run/syslogd.pid
/var/run/syslogd.socket

This would at least give us a *consistent* naming convention.  (Note:
It's important that the prefix be *exactly* the name of the daemon; no
fair chopping off the `d'!)
