and 1 is presumably ignored for set[ug]id binaries, right?

it's a little off topic, but could someone please enlighten me as to
how i can actually get gcc (2.8.1) under solaris (2.5.1) to stick an
rpath into a binary?  i'm getting quite tired of having to reset my
LD_LIBRARY_PATH each time i'm testing something, and i feel that i
shouldn't have to.  as a "normal user".
