On 30-Oct-98 John Nemeth spoke unto us all:
# } - run syslogd with the user options and -s option (no network)
# } - run netstart
# } - kill syslogd and run it again with just user options
#
# What happens if those critical filesystems are on NFS mounted
# partitions?

Or even worse, you are like me, and:

a) /usr is nfs mounted
b) all syslog daemons send all data to a remote logging host, rather than log
   it locally.
