I just matched the rest of the code ... I don't think that there is anything
non-standard about it.
I've filed a bug about the current state of things:

I think I will keep the patch as it is (plus fixing the message as mrg
suggested), but when the gnu folks come around to fixing it, I'll remove
our changes anyway.
