{\rant My wettest dreams are of a complete Unix-style system implemented 
in ML, or a similar language.  Unfortunately, I guess, I will not see it 
happen, at least not any time soon.  Just reading on the (probably well 
known) Bugtraq mailing list on a daily basis the endless stream of 
horrible low-level security bugs and the even more horrible ad-hoc 
proposed "solutions" to that (stack-"guards", copying stack frames, 
randomizing library base addresses and what not) is like an ugly 
flashback during a really bad hangover and so very helplessly stuck in 
what is basically 60ies' technology.  Ah well. }
