There was a really fascinating discussion on gcc3 (I think on current) which
kinda died.

Some of the answers implied that fear of gcc3's ability to make NetBSD may be
FUD on some platforms. 

Is toolchain the place to ask if there is somebody tracking gcc3, and an idea of
when it might be worth recommending it fold into the base as a compiler? Is
there a list of ports which are known ok for gcc3? Are there gotchas, downside
issues?

Some packages on linux platforms now grumble if you use gcc2 to compile them.
This suggests that other contexts now think gcc3 is the baseline.
