Subject: build.sh -jN, with N>1, broken?

Is it known problem that build.sh build with multiple jobs
fails? I do builds on i386, and the build reliably fails
in host-mkdep while checking for C compiler; it creates
empty test C file, and errors out once C compiler fails.
When run make in host-mkdep directly, or use
build.sh without -j, it builds fine.

Known problem?
